First 21 CBE JU projects selected for funding

The CBE JU Programme Office has concluded the evaluation of its first call for project proposals. 21 proposals have been selected to receive a total of nearly €120 million CBE JU funding.

EUCYS 2022 bioeconomy winners

EUCYS 2022 bioeconomy winners announced

Joaquim Sousa Dória and José Tiago Fernandes Vieira were awarded the EUCYS 2022 bioeconomy prize for their research on using the banana pulp to remove microplastic pollution from water. As part of their prize, the young scientists will visit Brussels with CBE JU to introduce their project to representatives of the European institutions.

How is CBE JU involved in the zero pollution action plan

The European Commission is proposing stronger rules on ambient air, surface and groundwater pollutants, and the treatment of urban wastewater. Since 2014, CBE JU has significantly contributed to the objectives of this plan by funding more than 140 projects that promote circular, bio-based innovations across Europe.

New circular industrial biorefinery completed in France

The CBE JU-funded AFTERBIOCHEM project inaugurated its first-of-its-kind biorefinery in Saint-Avold, France. The new industrial plant by AFYREN NEOXY will produce sustainable bio-based chemicals and fertilisers with a fully circular and zero-waste process.
