30 new CBE JU-funded projects to advance Europe’s bio-based sector

The CBE JU Programme Office has concluded the evaluation of the 2024 call for project proposals. 30 proposals have been selected to receive a total of €200 million CBE JU funding. Grant agreements with the successful candidates are expected to be signed before the end of May 2025.

The CBE JU 2024 call invited project proposals across 18 different topics, with the objective to advance a competitive bio-based sector in Europe, as well as develop new circular and sustainable products and solutions for the market. 

298 proposals were submitted to this call, requesting nearly €1.5 billion in funding. Based on the evaluation results and available CBE JU budget, 30 of them have been selected for a total funding of €200 million: 

  • 2 innovation actions - flagships 
  • 15 innovation actions
  • 10 research & innovation actions 
  • 3 coordination & support actions

The successful applicants and the CBE JU Programme Office will now start preparing the grant agreements to be signed before the end of May 2025. More information about the selected projects will be published following the grant agreement signature.

Independent evaluators from all over Europe selected from the Horizon Europe expert database supported the CBE JU Programme Office in the evaluation. We would like to thank all the experts for their commitment and professionalism that led to the successful completion of the evaluation.
